Far from the lives of Hannah Deangelo and friends, a brilliant, young scientist named Mary Miller, a twenty year-old prodigy who has devoted her entire youth to science, claims she has cracked the code of evolution and developed a drug that will give people 'superpowers'. Yet no one thinks her ideas are worth paying any attention to for the young girl has been rambling on and on about it her entire life, chasing the ever-elusive white whale that is her obnoxious theory.
Tired of neglect from her superiors at the government-owned company known as BioTrek, Mary commits treason and steals what she needs to make her drug, believing that in the end, she will vindicate herself and become a world-famous scientist, a scientist who in one swoop cured all diseases, ended the world's famine, and even developed a new form of transportation for she believes her drug will give anyone the power to fly.
Fearing the worst for her intern Mary, Dr. Julia Reynolds has done all she can to get Mary to turn herself in and stop her crazy quest, single-handled hunting the girl down without the help of the authorities. Yet after two months of Mary successfully hiding from both Dr. Reynolds and the police, the young girl has finally come out of hiding, asking her former boss to meet alone.
